Lighthouse Bikes, a community initiative by Sonoma Lighthouse Christian Church, launched in January 2014 as an innovative, project-based mentoring program in partnership with Petaluma City Schools and Mentor Me.

As a faith-based, Christ-centered organization, we empower young individuals to design and build their own custom beach cruiser bicycles. Through this hands-on experience, they not only develop valuable skills but also deepen their connection to God’s word, which we strive to instill in their hearts. This journey inspires them to discover new possibilities, unlocking hidden talents and passions they never knew they had.

Our students embrace the opportunity to learn valuable trade skills while committing to personal growth, academic success, and a brighter future.

This process begins with a general overview and introduction to modern day hands on basic tools and making sure every student feels 100% confident before the first use of every tool.

Safety will always stand as our #1 Top Priority.

By crafting their own custom beach cruiser bicycle, students not only acquire valuable hands-on trade skills but also cultivate essential life skills such as discipline, teamwork, organization, self-confidence, a sense of accomplishment, effective communication, professional attire, and a strong foundation in ethical behavior.

On average, our students invest 150 to 800 hours of focused effort, creating something truly unique as they prepare for a positive future.
